Lao Airlines opens new route to Pattaya
Bernie Rosenbloom, Vientiane

LAO Airlines launched a twice-weekly service between Vientiane and U-Tapao (Pattaya) on Sunday, less than a month after it started a thrice-weekly Vientiane-Pakse-Ho Chi Minh City route.

The airline also plans to increase before year-end its Vientiane-Bangkok flight frequency from twice daily to three or four a day, and its domestic Vientiane-Xieng Khouang service from thrice weekly to daily.

Meanwhile, the airline placed a pair of new 70-seat ATR 72-500s into service this week to replace two ATR 72-200s on existing routes, said Lao Airlines president Sengpraseuth Mathouchanh.
